The Bird in Hand is a family run freehouse and restaurant combining all the atmosphere of a traditional British pub with quality food and drink and comfortable surroundings. You are guaranteed a friendly welcome from the whole Bird in Hand team who always work hard to ensure your experience is an enjoyable one!
We offer a large parking area, indoor and outdoor seated areas, restaurants, bar area and, above all, a friendly atmosphere.
We are lucky enough to have fantastic producers and resources in Norfolk, so we think it makes sense to use products sourced as locally as possible including:
Free-range eggs from Wreningham, Free-range beef, pork and lamb from North Norfolk, and Suffolk Fresh fish and shellfish caught off the coasts of Brancaster, Cromer and Lowestoft, and Real Ales from breweries in Norfolk and Suffolk
Herbs grown in the pub garden
Because we cook almost everything from scratch here, we are generally able to accommodate most dietary requirements. If you have an allergy or intolerance, please do let us know at the time of your booking.
The Victorian Restaurant is set in the oldest part of the building and was previously the main bar area and lounge prior to the 1980′s refurbishment. Now the room is used as our main restaurant where we offer full waitress service throughout the week and at weekends. The ‘Vic’ is usually full on Fridays and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.
The Bird in Hand is a family owned and run public house and restaurant in the heart of Norfolk, only a mile away from Lotus Cars, and just 7 miles south of Norwich. We maintain a classic pub feel, but offer up to date menus and drinks selections. Our staff are friendly and enthusiastic, and we are confident that you will want to return again and again!
